Erin Crawford had a dream to one day open a studio that focused on health, well being and fitness training in a way where people could feel empowered and strong. In 2008 she stepped into that dream and created the Body Tempo and it’s been an ever evolving private health and fitness studio ever since to many career driven professionals.
Most of our members don’t have time to learn all the ins and outs to fitness and nutrition so instead they spend their time being an expert in their field and we take care of the rest.
Body Tempo is a place where you can show up with confidence that your health and fitness goals will be accomplished with proper guidence and support in a professional and private enviroment.

Hello my name is Erin Crawford, I am the owner of BodyTempo Health and Fitness inc.™ located in Nanaimo BC. I have always been involved in competitive sports. At a younger age I skied and swam competitively and I most recently succeeded in becoming a Champion Figure Athlete. I am a Certified Personal Trainer with BCRPA and I have studied in the fields of Sports Nutrition and Athlete Development. My experience and knowledge have aided me to help many people from all walks of life, both young and older. Some common goals I have been able to help my clients achieve are; weight reduction, improved flexibility, gaining muscle mass, improve and recovery from injuries, endurance training and excel in sport specific activities. Another passion of mine is cooking healthy, balanced and tasty meals that everyone can enjoy.
I have been coaching athletes for competition since 2010, both in person and online, and am a judge for both the NPAA and IDFA. I am a internationally publish Health and Fitness writer.

Our Personal Trainer with Heart
Chelan is currently working towards completing a degree in kinesiology through Vancouver Island University. She has always been interested in fitness, health and nutrition and would love to help others strive to achieve their goals when it comes to personal wellness.
She has played competitive ice hockey for a majority of her life and continues to participate as a member of the Nanaimo Islanders Female Hockey Association as well as co-ed tournaments regularly. She has experience and knowledge regarding concussions, anatomy and various sports injuries.
Chelan was born and raised in Nanaimo with a love for hiking, the outdoors and exploring. She began attending group classes in previous years with Erin and loved the positive environment and energy that Body Tempo has to offer.
She is a NSCA certified Personal Trainer and eager to continue to grow her experience, knowledge and skills with Erin Crawford and Body Tempo Health and Fitness.

Christian is a young man who is passionate about health and weightlifting. His fitness journey began in 2014, starting from a point of being overweight, so he knows how challenging it can be to make the change from being inactive to active. Living a complete healthy life quickly became very important to Christian and he has used that passion to help many others on their fitness journeys. Focussing on powerlifting and bodybuilding has led him to be easily adaptable to many styles of training.
Christian has been living in Nanaimo since 2008, but is originally from Chihuahua, Mexico and speaks both English and Spanish fluently. In his downtime Christian likes to pursue his other passions including reading, hiking, learning about psychology, and connecting with friends and family.
Christian is ISSA certified and as completed Body Tempo’s extensive training process. He looks forward to being a part of the Body Tempo team, furthering his learning through Team leader Erin Crawford 16 years of trainings, and helping others meet their fitness goals.

She has obtained several continuing education certificates in professional fitness workshops including Functional Training & Identifying Movement Patterns, Postural Analysis and Corrective Exercise, Stretching/Flexibility Programming, Balance Training, and Self-Esteem/Positive Thinking. Through the BC Personal Training Institute in Vancouver, she acquired a NASM certification.
Her role has always involved empowering people to create positive change in their lives by identifying barriers, educating, and supporting their efforts. Rene holds a degree in Social Work and has been helping people find their way for over 10 years. She has worked with individuals of all ages and is empathetic, understanding, non-judgmental, and kind.
Rene discovered a passion for fitness through her personal weight loss journey. She has experienced firsthand the triumphs and setbacks that come with making a long-term, lifestyle change. Struggling with obesity most of her life, she developed Type 2 Diabetes and other health-related problems in her twenties. However, she managed to turn her life direction around and has lost over 150 lbs. through exercise and nutrition. She empowered herself through fitness and enjoys walking alongside other people as they go through that journey.
Rene can empathize with clients who may not know where to start or may feel hopeless in accomplishing their goals. She uses her experiences to help others improve their health, wellbeing, and confidence. She believes that physical activity can be a powerful tool in giving individuals an opportunity to reclaim their mind and body. Whether your goal be weight-reduction, gaining muscle mass, improving flexibility, relieving chronic pain, or enhancing quality of life, she is grateful to be a part of a team that will help you every step of the way.

I wanted to submit my amazing trainer Erin Crawford as trainer of the year. She has given me the most amazing training programs, and diet, that all work with my own dietary restrictions, and old injuries. She has supported me and always been there for me whenever I need her help. I truly believe she deserves this award, I am a trainer as well, and am highly impressed by her professionalism, skills, and passion for what she does. She has made my first ever competition at the age of 50 a lot easier for me.
I am over the moon happy with my 6 month progress changes !! Thanks to Erin Crawford at BODY TEMPO, For the amazing knowledge and expertise on helping me to continue to achieve my goals whether there weekly or monthly or long term goals, I wouldn't be able to get them with out her help! Erin is a truly excellent trainer! She is the perfect combination of tough ("Erin, you are KILLING me!") and warm ("Sheldon, you are doing SO well"), and she works with the whole person -- mentally, emotionally and physically. Because of her efforts, I am stronger mentally and physically, I have better balance in my life and most importantly, working out has become fun. Throughout my competition prep Erin helped me get through my highs and lows. I was extremely happy with the end results and look forward to working with her again for my next competition in 2014! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What should I bring to my first session and/or all sessions?
2. Are groups limited to women or men only?
There are also seasonal pre and post natal...
3. How long are personal training sessions?
The usual training session consists of approximately 1 hour sessions.
4. How often do I need to commit to training with your or in the gym?
That depends on your plan, your budget and how often you want to come into the gym. For Clients who purchase 1 on 1 personal training packages we provide them with their workout program and workout sheets so that they can do workouts on their own as well as with their trainer.
Workout program in app. Where you can input your weights and delete exercises omitted. There is an option for you to print off your program. If you would like a printed copy of your program there is a fee of $5. You may print off from your home at no charge.
5. Are you going to teach me how to design plans?
Not directly. The service is that of a coach-client relationship and not that of a teacher-student rapport. That said, in providing you with the info required for you to get the most out of your plans and helping you troubleshoot, over time, you should pick up a great deal as a secondary benefit.
6. If I email you how quick should I expect a reply?
All correspondence is email based with an average reply time within 24 – 48 hours. This allows for fully considered and measured questions, comments and replies.
7. How often are plans changed?
Programs are changed every 4 to 8 weeks.
8. Do I have to live in Nanaimo BC to obtain your service?
If you have access to an internet connection and Zoom, resistance training equipment, and quality foods (meats, produce, etc) we can most likely design a plan fit for you and your needs.
9. When starting a biweekly payment plan program how much money is due prior to starting?
We require just the first payment 5 days prior to start date. This allows for us to start programming. Your second payment will withdraw two weeks post start date.
10. Do I have to wear a mask while exercising indoors?
Wearing a mask is a personal choice and is no longer mandatory.
11. Do I need a vaccine passport in your gym in BC?
No vaccine passports are required.
